Moleskin Geekstock

2007 at 01.25 pm posted by Veerle Pieters

Wasn't sure whether to publish this since I don't think this looks great or anything. Moleskins are there just to have fun doing something creative, doodling sketching, pasting etc. So that's exactly what I did here.

Moleskin Geekstock doodling and collage

On the left page you see the result of me being in the wrong session at SXSWi this year. I thought it would be wise to join a session about AJAX, but it wasn't aimed to beginners or designers. I couldn't follow really and I started to doodle a bit instead. I was thinking about SXSWi, to me this is like Geekstock :) Later on I colored it like a kid would with crayons and pencils and I added tons of Letraset transfer letters.

The right page shows a collage of teared paper and some doodling on top and on the open spots. I doodle while waiting, while on the phone etc. This is the result. One confession though: I decided to go for a paper collage, because I messed up the sketch on that page.

Your moleskine looks fun.

Mine has meeting notes and incomplete ideas :)

Lovely collage. It’s taken me a long time to have the confidence to say to myself that it’s my book and I can put whatever I want in it.

Ironically, I think that is the point it becomes interesting to other people - when it has a part of your personality in it.

Thanks all :) I should try to spend more time doing this. It’s fun and good for the creative brain.

Very nice! This is a really interesting form for free art expression: an open space where you can put together images as freely and spontaneously as they stream to imagination.

Don’t feel like a kid because you couldn’t follow the seminar. The geeks next to you might’ve envied your creativity.
