TIGER today at 6 PM

I’ll bet it is a general feeling among fellow Mac users that it has been a long two weeks since TIGER got announced. Now it is only a matter of counting down the hours until the official launch at 6 PM this evening. I am going to collect my copy at IT Pro in Ghent, not my favourite choice but it is the closest one to home and they can’t mess up a box, however you never know :-p

New corporate identity and logo evolution

39 comments 2005 at 11.35 pm posted by Veerle Pieters

As promised in Monday’s post, here is an exclusive premiere for the readers of Veerle’s blog :-) Our new corporate look has been ready for a few months but the reason why we hold off official usage is because our website isn’t ready just yet. It is al little silly to use new business cards if your website still represents the former look.

May 1st Reboot

It’s been 2 years now that I’m working on a new website for my business and every time other projects got in the way and it gets postponed… Then some time passes and I look at it again with a reaction such as ‘did I create this?!... Yak!’ and I start all over again. This went on and on till somewhere last Summer when I finally got the design part right (version 6 or was it 7?).

Internet Explorer 7 a few details….

Dave Hyatt is hard at work to get Safari through the Acid2 test. It is great that Apple understands the importance of these things. On to the topic of today and that’s Internet Explorer 7.

Is it a global conversation starter?

33 comments 2005 at 01.13 am posted by Veerle Pieters

The last days a thought crossed my mind about conversation topics in shops. Don’t know how it is where you are living but here in Belgium not all shopping is done in large outlets.

We have a lot of little shops where you can buy meat, bread, groceries etc. While waiting my turn I’ve noticed that almost 90% of the time people talk about the weather. So I can imagine that the owner must know a lot about it since he hears it several times a day :-)

Now on to my question that has been in my head for the last day or two. Is this a global thingy? I’m asking because I have a hard time picturing such conversation in a country where the sun always shines. Let’s say that we have a rather bizarre climate, for example 2 weekends ago I woke up in a snowed landscape. And the week before we had a light summer breeze. So plenty to talk about! A light topic to get into the weekend ;-)

Macromedia’s history

An aspect of Duoh! that we didn’t talked about so far here is the creation of CD-ROMS. But first let us turn back the clock a little. It all starts somewhere in 1985 with a company called MacroMind. They released an application called Videoworks and struck a licensing deal with Apple in 1986 to put an “interactive guided tour” on every shipped Mac.

Macromedia and Adobe Join Forces!

The most earth scattering news today is the announcement that Macromedia and Adobe join forces. My first reaction was, is this a late April fools?

My article in Design In Flight

18 comments 2005 at 02.20 am posted by Veerle Pieters

About 8 months ago or so I took a subscription on Design In Flight, a PDF magazine targeted to graphic design professionals and web developers. Soon after I subscribed Andy Arikawa asked me if I would be interested in writing an article for the magazine. I was honored he asked me and of course I said yes, how could I not.

Quark XPress 7 a rematch on Indesign?

Latest news regarding Quark reveals that Quark Xpress 7 is still due for release this year. Something pops up in my mind that Quark hasn’t the best track record for fulfilling release dates in the past.

Nude Tempo One

It’s Friday, almost weekend so time for some relaxing and laid back Chill out with a taste of Soul and Funk. For me this kind of music is ideal when I’m trying to find some creativity. The CD Nude Tempo One is a release from March 2002, so a while ago but still a great asset to your collection.
