My experience with Billings 2.5

43 comments 2007 at 02.08 pm posted by Veerle Pieters

Like I promised in the previous article, we will explore some applications that I have been testing to finally find the one I have been looking for. One of the most important decision factors is the ‘User Interface’, that’s why I said it has to have the attention to detail like CSSEdit to name one. There is one application that earns that title and it’s called Billings. You feel at home and you don’t see artifacts of badly designed icons or counter productive ways of working. It’s truly a Mac application and it shows the efforts that the engineers have put into it.

How do you handle day to day operations?

Running your own business brings a lot of responsibilities, with money as the first one that comes to mind. Of course we have a great bookkeeper who handles the law, and all the work towards VAT, taxes etc. But before invoices reach his desk, several steps have been dealt with to get to that stage.

Stylish faucets for the bathroom

In our previous Modern home Design article we talked about the ‘bath tub becoming furniture’. Today we explore the bathroom solutions a bit deeper by looking at faucets. I only focus on brands that pay attention to the design of their products. Most of these are not the cheap ones you pick up at the local hardware store but in return you get lifetime quality. Some brands like Hansgrohe actually give that guarantee on both mechanic and finish. Make your chest wet (no pun intended) for a journey through the land of water.

‘Veerle theme’ for Netvibes

Most of the ‘Web 2.0’ sites that have changed people methods in enjoying the web are coming from the United States. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it makes it kinda easy to forget about things closer to home in let’s say Paris. I’m talking about Netvibes, a service to help you consume and customize the huge amount of information we process in a typical day.

CSS hover effect

I would like to share some insight on a piece of CSS I’ve used for the homepage for a website a while ago that I’ve built together with Roger Johansson. I’m talking about the hover effect on the 4 tabbed boxes shown on this page.
