The History of Belgian Graphic Design

21 comments 2007 at 04.44 pm posted by Veerle Pieters

Something that has been lingering my mind lately is the history of graphic design in Belgium or the lack off. It’s true that I didn’t spend days researching the web, but it’s obvious that something is lacking. There is as good as nothing to be found relating to the subject. It is impossible not to notice the impact of graphic design in everyday life so it’s there alright, but obviously nothing is online. A bit of a shame and a missed opportunity if you ask me.

It’s high time to add something to our Modern Home Design section again. There isn’t a large presence on the web where you can find out about Belgian designers. This isn’t because they are not there. I am amazed of what my little country has to offer design wise. You may have already noticed my set of outdoor furniture articles done by Belgian designers. Today however we focus on a totally different and more fragile sector namely ceramics.

No More Volume Logic Update

A few weeks ago I posted about getting Volume Logic running again after updating to Leopard. It was a fairly complex method to eventually get it running again. Rejoice because Quentin Carnicelli from Rogue Amoeba has come up with a solution that’s a lot simpler.

Categories and paths in ExpressionEngine

It’s been a while since I did some ExpressionEngine implementation work. I’ve been occupied mostly with design work only and CSS coding. Even if it’s been a while it doesn’t mean I have nothing to share on the subject. Time to refresh my memory and explain to you how paths works in EE, how you can use your own category URL titles in links, instead of C followed by a number (or category id) and how you can implement categories.

What is Graphic Design?

It seems to be embedded in human nature to try to label things to identify it. Labeling itself is not bad, but I’m talking about making things sound more fancy or smart. It’s already hard enough to get everybody on the same line when using well known terms. It’s all subjective and everybody has a different vision or interpretation.
