On regular occasions I get e-mail from readers to ask if I still use Billings since I reviewed version 2.5 back in 2007. The answer is yes but I moved over to Billings 3, a new version released a few months ago. If you aren’t familiar with Billings, it is a time tracking and invoicing/estimate application for Mac OS X.

It’s a struggle to find the right application that makes office life a bit easier. For starters I am designer and not a sales person so it’s only natural that I want to limit the amount of time being the sales person. In my search for the best application that was one of the criteria that had in mind. I’m not the kind of person that falls for features but for usability instead. After the jump you’ll find out what had a large weight in my decision-making.

The day after the announcement of the Apple iPhone 3G I was really excited to see Belgium among the 22 countries who would have the device available at July 11th. Now a few days later it seems that the flags of Belgium have been moved on the Apple.be site to “soon available”. I understand that things here aren’t exactly the same as in most other countries because it is illegal here to sell contract/phone bundling in other words sim locked phones.

A few weeks ago I posted about getting Volume Logic running again after updating to Leopard. It was a fairly complex method to eventually get it running again. Rejoice because Quentin Carnicelli from Rogue Amoeba has come up with a solution that’s a lot simpler.

After updating to Leopard I noticed that a plugin that I really love wasn’t working anymore. I’m talking about Volume Logic, an audio enhancement plugin for iTunes. My first reaction was to go to their website and see if they had an alert or update for Leopard.

One thing I’m impressed with about Apple’s new system GUI in Leopard is the “inset effect” on the text in combination with the new window chrome. Several people asked me about my opinion on Leopards GUI and I thought I combine this with another question I received on how to create this “inset effect” on text.
So I’ve decided to investigate this subtle effect further via Photoshop layer effects as well as Illustrator’s effects.

It doesn’t happen that often that we receive an unusual project request. You know, *that* project that makes your eyebrows raise and where you need some time to think about it before agreeing to it. That’s exactly what happened to us a few months ago…

I don’t know about you, but I always loved the fact that I can customize my Mac easily. I am talking about changing icons and desktop backgrounds and even themes from time to time with help from ShapeShifter. Today I want to focus on the desktop aspect. There is so much choice out there that it can become a struggle to find high quality looking desktop backgrounds.

The preparations for the big move have began and it’s now becoming clear how much stuff people gather over the period of several years. In other words high time to clear out some of our inventory.

It’s unbelievable how the rumors are flying again in the anticipation of Monday’s start of the WWDC. It’s that time again where everybody starts daydreaming about iPhones, Tablets, Home cinema appliances, some are new and most of them popup every time there is an event. I’m not focusing on making an educated guess in what’s coming hardware wise but like to think a little of possible interface changes in 10.5 Leopard. I have been wondering what direction Apple will take a few times already. I always postponed writing something about it but this post of Brent Simmons sparked my interest again.
