CSS resources…. So many links to bookmark for later use. You don’t always need them right away, so what I do is manage my bookmarks in Safari and my dot.Mac. It’s nice to have them around but it would be much more handy if I had one document. A document that I can store and backup on DVD etc. There are some websites who have a list but what if those are down, it’s the Internet after all.

This is the last part of our tutorial. (Previous parts: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6 and part 7). We will add the favorite links on the left and link our styles in a separate CSS stylesheet.

Since using CSS to code the design of my webpages I came to the conclusion that less slices are needed compared to old-school table layout. And because of that I just crop and export my images right from Photoshop instead of FireWorks like I used to. For me this is faster and easier, since you have only 1 document instead of 2.

UPDATE: Before we start part 7 I want to correct a minor mistake of mine, mea culpa. When adding blocks of text I told you to put this between div tags but that is not semantically correct. It should be between paragraphs instead. This way everything still looks fine when the CSS stylesheet is dissabled. Doing so allows you to use top and bottom margins to adjust the vertical spacing between paragraphs. This way we also don’t need to use linebreak tags anymore.

This is part 6 of our tutorial. (Previous parts: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4 and of course last week’s part 5). Now we will add the content part of our webpage. Next week we’ll be adding the (favorite) links under our navigation and I’ll also explain how to create a footer.

For a project I’m working on I’m using a bullet list styled through CSS for a title that is right aligned and has a bullet image in front. This is what I mean:

In our previous part we implemented our very first CSS code. For first time visitors here is: part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4. In this part of the tutorial we will be implementing our navigation on the left.

Here are the previous parts of this tutorial : part 1, part 2 and part 3. Now that our color paint and pencils are tucked away, we can move on to part 4. In this chapter we will concentrate on slicing our design and determine the DIV containers.

There’s a lot of talk these days about where the women of CSS are. Molly is asking, Douglas Bowman is asking,... Why are there far less women then men in this field? Maybe there are women out there but they are less vocal or haven’t reached the “celebrity” status as some men do. Of course I haven’t been around long enough so my time might still come where people will remember my name who knows. Also I’m still learning myself, so I’m far from an expert (yet). I can only yell “hello?! I’m here” but if you don’t get heard then I’m one of the many women in this CSS world.

Finally we’re off for the third part of our CSS tutorial. Lesson 1, 2 are still available on my blog for those who haven’t been following from the beginning. This will be our last design part, after this it will be “slice and dice” time and the beginning of the XHTML and CSS conversion. Here are some details of the final result:
