Never did a guest post before but that was until I received this from a Dutch friend. Text and picture is from Taco Meeuwsen. Hope this one will put a smile on your face ;-)

Everybody’s Free (good advice and a tip for the Summer)

Ladies and gentlemen of the class of ‘97:

Wear sunscreen.

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I will dispense this advice now.

A Musical Baton

When I received a meme from Andy Budd, first thing I did was hit F12 and look in Dashboard what the hell a “meme” and a “baton” was? And yes I got my answers there, I LOVE Dashboard! So now on to the music maestro!

A game for the weekend

13 comments 2005 at 04.17 am posted by Veerle Pieters

There has past some time since I last linked to one of those Yeti games. The last one was part 5. I skipped a few versions because I found them not cool enough to link to. Now they are at part 8 called Jungle Swing. Your Yeti must play Tarzan in the Brazilian jungle and swing from branch to branch.

It’s actually pretty difficult, at least for me :-) The ideal time waster for the weekend if you’re not working that is ;-)

Transparent desktop confab

Something fun for the Easter weekend is to create the illusion of a transparent screen. And no… I did not dismantle my PowerBook screen to get this as a result. I might be a little crazy but not that crazy ;-)

Inside peek at Pixar!

14 comments 2005 at 11.53 am posted by Veerle Pieters

Ever wondered how the inside of creative power house looks like? Well here is your chance in getting a behind the scene’s tour of Pixar Animation studios. Amazing is that the creative team gets a free card into how they design their working environment. It’s pretty hard to imagine such a thing for a firm here in Belgium.

Pixar movies so far
Yes I know, the CEO is Steve Jobs, a kind of different thinker himself but still… If my memory serves me right even at Apple you have much freedom as an employee. For example it is allowed to bring your favorite pet to work. The philosophy is that a happy worker is a creative and productive one. I think there is a lot of truth in that. The guided picture tour is now open for viewing :-)

Do you dress up your Mac or PC?

42 comments 2005 at 01.33 am posted by Veerle Pieters

Let’s explore the fun world of changing the overall appearance of your Mac or PC using ‘themes’ or skins. I always have been a sucker for good looking icons. Back in the day on Mac OS 9 you had Kaleidoscope to change the appearance of Mac. The ball park changed dramatically when Mac OS X arrived on the scene and it became clear that Kaleidoscope wasn’t going be ported to Mac OS X.

Don’t be shy hit that keyboard in honor of De-Lurking Day ;-)

Won't you comment?Officially a day late (better late then never) but I only discovered this idea just now and found it too cool to let go ;-) Sheryl of Paper Napkin, the creator of De-Lurking Day launched this idea on her blog yesterday and basically it means “A special day celebrating lurkers, and exhorting you to muster the strength and bravery to click on that comment button and end the deafening silence.”

Today it’s time to come out of the closet and express yourself in my comments ;-) I know you’re out there, so cross that boundary and make me feel proud and fill up those comments. Say it out loud: hi I am ... and I am a lurk-aholic ;-)

(small) UPDATE : a quick calculation, most days I have around 1.000 - 1.200 visitors ... in other words a LOT of you out there won’t confess their ‘problem’ :-P So a triple digit shouldn’t be too hard to achieve since this means that only about 10% must dare to express themselves :-)

How does your working environment look?

I’ve been toying around with the idea of writing an article about this for a while now. You see, for me it’s important to have a cosy office. It affects my creative mind and can’t stand the thought of getting a design job done in an office that gives you a rather depressing or a cold unpleasant feeling.

Parking…. battle of the sexes

17 comments 2004 at 08.12 am posted by Veerle Pieters

I think it’s time again for some fun. How about a game? This “parking” game is one to try. In real life I admit that parking isn’t one of my strongest qualities.
