People really seem to like my Illustrator tutorials, but I do receive a lot of e-mail with one common question “How did you create those curvy lines used in motion trails?” The first thing that you need to master and become proficient in is the Pen tool.

One of my favorite Photoshop features is the Smart Object one. It has saved me a lot of time because you can avoid repetitive tasks. It’s perfect when you design template web pages with temporary content placeholders etc. But that’s just one advantage…

One thing I’m impressed with about Apple’s new system GUI in Leopard is the “inset effect” on the text in combination with the new window chrome. Several people asked me about my opinion on Leopards GUI and I thought I combine this with another question I received on how to create this “inset effect” on text.
So I’ve decided to investigate this subtle effect further via Photoshop layer effects as well as Illustrator’s effects.

Here is another step-by-step tutorial (per reader’s request) where I show you how to draw the basic shape of a coat of arms and a banner by using the Pen tool and Reflect tool in Adobe Illustrator. For those who are struggling with the Pen tool or readers that are just starting to use Illustrator, this is a prefect exercise. I’ll explain every move and step on how you draw the path.

In 2005 I wrote an article about styling a table with CSS. After receiving so many requests I finally decided to give in and write another tutorial. Seems like a popular topic and an interesting one to share some tricks on how you can nicely style them. This article is about the proper usage of tables, for tabular data. How you can implement them with accessibility in mind and how to make them appealing for the eye using CSS.

Remember when I talked about the transform again feature in Illustrator? A reader told me about a nice tip he read on the Photoshop Killer Tips wbsite on how to create a Ray of Light Effect using Transform Again. You see, this feature also exists in Photoshop…

In my previous Illustrator tutorial I showed you how to create some cool looking effects with lines using the Transform Again feature. I would like to continue this path and share some other cool effects you can achieve with simple shapes or lines. A few readers asked me if I could explain how I created the blending wave lines. This is done using the Blend tool…
