1 million downloads and still counting…

2003 at 03.15 am posted by Veerle Pieters

Last week Sir Fester from Microsoft told us that iTunes for Windows would not be a success because it is too limited. In other words no support for Window Media Player files… I’m afraid that Sir Fester will regret his words because in 3,5 days there were over a million downloads!

YP-910GSThese are not only impressive download figures, but there are also over a million songs purchased! Oh no, iTunes is not a success :-P I would call that a success alright! If you know that iTunes for Windows is a 20 MB download, and if you multiply this with 1 million then you got 20 TB of downloaded data!! Luckily I don’t have to pay this bill of data transfer ;-) It proves again that analysts don’t know squad, 1 million now and Apple said it is still going strong 24 hours a day. Who knows where it will end. And remember this is only the U.S.

In related news, Samsung showed their Napster player which also contained a 20 GB HD and will cost exact the same as Apple’s 20 GB iPod, US $399. But this is not the only similarity, the measures and weight are also the same. Luckily for us, Mac addicts, it is bud ugly and its name confirms that they no taste at all… see for yourself: YP-910GS :-S

To be continued…
